Aftercare

Second skin users:
-
Leave second skin on for 3-5 days.
-
Shower normally, just avoid running the water too hot.
-
Avoid excess sweating if possible.
-
Don't submerge the bandage under water for prolonged periods of time.
-
If noticeable redness or irritation occurs around the bandage, remove it immediately.
-
When removing the second skin- run the area under warm water. Lather soap around the edges, and begin to slowly peel off, reapplying soap through out. Pulling the bandage out and away (like a command strip) can make the removal easier.
-
Begin after care as normal once it is off.

If plastic wrapped:
-
Leave plastic wrap on for 1-2 hours. (At least until home)
-
After removal, rinse with warm soap and water.
-
Wait 48 hours before moisturizing.
-
Continue aftercare as normal.

After bandage is off:
-
Clean the tattoo 2-3 times a day with a non-scented, anti-bacterial soap. (dial or castille soap)
-
Moisturize 1-2 times a day with a non-scented cocoa butter or lotion (aveeno, lubriderm, cerave- NO AQUAPHOR NO VASELINE NO OINTMENTS)
-
Do not over moisturize. A thin layer is all that is needed.
-
Do not submerge the tattoo in water for prolonged periods of time (swimming, baths, etc-showering is ok)
-
Do not pick, scratch, or exfoliate the tattoo while it's healing.
-
Tattoo should be fully healed in 2-3 weeks!
-
Apply SPF regularly for sun protection. Tattoo will hold up better as you age!
